Stan Horstmanshof and Jeff De Jong carve two giant ice sculptures, a bear and a cougar, at Hogle Zoo Saturday. The two sculptors began carving at 9 a.m. during part of "Coca-Cola Ice Block Day." The finished sculptures were to be displayed all day or until they melted. The zoo's staff gave large blocks of ice with fish, fruits, vegetables and other goodies to some of the animals, including polar bears, elephants, tigers and gorillas. Representatives from Coca-Cola and Star 102.7-FM were at the zoo with displays, a contest and prizes.
