Carol Richards Hardman died July 17, 1998 in Provo, Utah of cancer.
She was born September 28, 1935 in Oakley, Utah to Ralph Ashton Richards and Ida Naoma Laney Richards. Grew up in Kamas Valley; graduated from So. Summit High School. She married Chad Lee Hardman on June 9, 1953, divorced in 1977. During these years, she lived in 17 homes in nine states. Carol was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership positions, but teaching was what she loved the most. She worked in Research Administration at Brigham Young University for the last 18 years, counting that experience as one of her greatest blessings.Survivors include six children: Pat Califia, California; Diane (Chris) Steuben, Colorado; Wendy (Jack) Parker, American Fork; Scott (Dana), Washington; Mark (Tina), Texas; and Gaye (Robert) Mathusek, New Jersey. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and six siblings.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at EastLake Care Center and especially to the members of Family Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at 10 a.m. in the Sharon 3rd & 4th Ward Chapel 445 South 700 East in Orem. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State St., Orem and also one hour prior to the services at the ward chapel. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Oakley City Cemetery, Oakley, Utah.
