Eula G. Barnett, sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister was peacefully released from her pain in the early morning of Thursday, July 16, 1998 at home. She was 73.

She was born August 29, 1924 in Grand Junction, Colorado to John Mark and Valie Shepherd Garrett. Graduated from Grand Junction High School and attended a year at Colorado State University at Fort Collins.Married Louis A. Barnett 19 March 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple, to begin a courtship that lasted 51 happy years.

Eula and her husband were the owners of Time Box Jewelers in Layton and Barnett's Jewelers in Kaysville. She also was a longtime employee at the Farmington City Post Office.

Eula was devoted to family. The oldest of seven children, she was a second mother to her brothers and sisters. The mother of two daughters, she raised them with wisdom, patience and unfailing love. She delighted in her grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She had a great love for family history, and despite being crippled with severe arthritis, she nevertheless completed three books of family history, with the help of her husband, and was assisting with a fourth at the time of her passing.

Eula was a woman of prayer and faith, with a great love of the Lord. Over the years, she served in many ward and stake callings in Sunday School and Relief Society. Though home-bound, she served as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor.

Anyone who knew Eula, even after a short meeting, loved her. Her patience, gentleness, kindness and selflessness amid her pain was an inspiration to many.

Survived by her husband, Louis; daughters, Adelle Barnett, Centerville, Utah; and Barbara B. (Eric) Frederick, Huntsville, Alabama; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; sisters, Edna (Howard) Betenson, Hurricane, Utah; and Doris NaDean Gomeringer, Hurricane, Utah; brother, Paul (Vivian) Garrett, Hurricane, Utah; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Marvin, Delbert, and Ronald Garrett, and grandson, Jay Kenneth Frederick.

The family would like to thank all the loving friends and ward members who have visited Eula and brought gifts of food and companionship over the years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 21, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 South 200 East. Friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 at the church prior to services. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
