Police have released the name of a pilot who died Saturday when his airplane crashed in a suburban field near Salt Lake Airport No. 2.
Killed was:Frank L. Earl, 29, Draper.
Earl died instantly when his 1996 Aero Commander plowed into a subdivision clearing at 4710 West 8170 South at 12:05 p.m. Saturday.
West Jordan Police Capt. Randy Johnson said wreckage was strewn across the back yards of five nearby homes and narrowly missed a number of occupied residences.
Earl had just taken off from Airport No. 2, 7400 South 4600 West.
