Samuel Woodson "Tex" Reed, age 90, died Friday July 17,1998 at his home in LaMarque, Texas.
He was born September 29, 1907 in Whitney, Texas to John Cassmon and Willie Alma Yoe Reed. He married Rachel Rae Brown June 14, 1933 she died October 24, 1981. Tex married Norma Lee Saenz. During his time in Utah he worked at the Tooele Army Depot retiring after 30 years of service. He was a charter member of the Tooele Gem and Mineral Society and was a 32nd Degree Mason with Rocky Mountain Lodge #11 F&AM.Survivors include his wife, Norma West Reed, of LaMargue, Texas; two daughters, Gloria Pennington, Washington State; and Violet (Charles) Sease, of North Dakota; and a step-daughter, Jennie West, of Austin, Texas; two sons, Eddie (Vera) Reed, Magna, Utah; and Larry (Dawnelle) Reed, of Tooele; also a stepson, Eric West, of Virginia; sisters, Gloria Meidam, Hitchcock, Texas; Margie Ross, Texas City, Texas; Leveryn Freudenspring, Dickinson, Texas; brother, Clifford Reed, Santa Fe, Texas; 24 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Rachel; son, Gary LeRoy; daughters, Leah Colleen Reed; and Jeanette Terry; stepdaughter, Claudia Wells; sister, Dolores Back; and brothers, John and Fred.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 22, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Tate Mortuary 110 So Main St., Tooele, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment Tooele City Cemetery.
