A West Valley woman has been charged with automobile homicide in the July 19 hit-and-run death of a 9-year-old girl.

Jana Lin Kodel, 23, was apparently seen driving down the 1300 West block of Crystal Ave at a high rate of speed when she veered off to the shoulder of the road. Kodel's car hit and killed Kayla Agar and injured two other children who were walking with Agar, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court.Information from various individuals who saw Kodel before the incident said she "was intoxicated and incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle and had been told not to drive," the charges say.
