Cardinal Roger Mahony, who underwent surgery to remove a cancerous prostate gland last month, will be hospitalized for several days for treatment of a blood clot, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles said Saturday.

Mahony, 62, said he feels "terrific," according to a news release, which also said the appearance of a blood clot after major surgery is not uncommon.It was unclear when Mahony would be hospitalized or what treatment was expected.
