She was known by both Kay and Katy by those whom she loved and trusted. Born at home in Salt Lake City on May 20, 1928 to Thurman and Mary Alice Clawson. Katy graduated from South High School in 1945. She attended two years of college at University of Utah before marrying Gordon Jacobson on February 3, 1947. An Avid reader and accomplished poet, Katy was fortunate to work surrounded by the things she loved most. She worked in the technical services department at the Salt Lake City Public Library for 21 years. Katy brought with her the gift of laughter and true friendship to her department, lovingly called, "the swamp". Those blessed to have known her are forever richer through the love she shared.Katy is survived by her husband, Gordy; sisters, Marjorie Fue, Maxine Grubb; and son, David (Donna); three daughters, Patty Shannon, Julia Jacobson and Sue Bolen; grandsons, Davis Jacobson, Michael Neville (Wendy), Jonathan Bolen; granddaughters, Mary Shannon Riley, and Anna Kathleen Jacobson; and one great-grandson, Kyle Curtis Neville. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Delbert Barrett; and great- grandson, Britain Jacobson.
Graveside service Thursday 2 p.m. at the Murray City Cemetery. Funeral directors Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Salt Lake City Public Library to purchase children's books in Katy's name.
Following the graveside service a gathering for family and friends will be held at 3 p.m. at the Richards LDS Ward, 863 East Garfield (1875 So.).
