The Economic Development Corporation of Utah, a statewide nonprofit public-private organization serving as a catalyst for increased capital investment and quality job growth in Utah, has formed an alliance with the Washington County Economic Development Council.
The agreement, which will result in enhanced corporate recruitment and marketing efforts for Washington County, came after approval from officials of both organizations."The EDCU is pleased to take a more active role with Washington County, which has seen phenomenal growth and activity," said Lou Callister, EDCU chairman. "I compliment the community leaders throughout Washington County who have been visionary in developing a strategic plan and aggressive in pursuing the goals contained in the plan," he said.
Dan Gifford, WCEDC chairman and a partner in Larkin-Gifford Development, said the county completed its strategic plan and the alliance is the first step toward completion of the economic development portion of the county's goals.
"The EDCU will help us focus and intensify our recruitment efforts. This initiative, in partnership with our local community development programs, will create a powerful force in obtaining the goals of the strategic plan," said Gifford.
