The annual banquet and auction for the Utah County chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Alpine Country Club.
In addition to the prime rib buffet, a fund-raising auction will take place. Items on the block include guns, knives, artwork, collectibles and a wide range of outdoor equipment. Other items will be given away, including a limited-entry elk permit, a four-wheeler and a gun safe.All proceeds from the banquet go to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and are used for projects to benefit elk. The foundation is a nonprofit organization and donations are tax deductible. Cash donations are also welcome.
The foundation has completed a number of projects to benefit elk in Utah. They have included such things as purchasing critical habitat areas and restoring and improving range lands. Nationwide, foundation projects have included helping to reintroduce elk into states and regions of the country where they had become extinct.
