Johanna Maria VanTryffel Hekking (Annie) passed away July 29, 1998 at the age of 90.

Born January 24, 1908, to Johannes Philippus and Elizabeth Kasten VanTryffel in Rotterdam, Holland. Married Anthonie Albertus Hekking February 6, 1929 in Rotterdam, Holland. Solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple May 1954, later divorced.Mom was a convert to the church and had a great love of the gospel and loved to sing in the choir. The hymns of the Church brought her much joy and happiness, especially the years she spent singing in the Netherlands branch choir.

Her family meant everything to her and she will be missed by each one.

She is survived by four daughters and one son, Gilda Schacht; Lola Meador; Annie (Derral) Sorensen; of Salt Lake City; Betty Visser, of Chatsworth, CA; and John (Jane) Hekking, of Glendale, AZ; brother, Steef (Sjaan) VanTryffel; and sister, Elizabeth Schwedler, Rotterdam, Holland. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; ten siblings; son, Andrew Hekking; grandson, Billy Hekking; great-grandson, Andrew Naghash; great-granddaughter, Christine Anderson; and son-in-law, John Visser.

The family wishes to thank the Hospice program especially nurses: Sue Ann, Debbie and Camille.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 1, 1998 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, where friends may call Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
