John McFern Crofts, age 81, died Wednesday, July 1, 1998 in Kanab, Utah.

Born January 11, 1917 in Orderville, Utah to Mary Jane Hoyt and John Edward Crofts. Married Marjorie Alice Rust April 23, 1943 in the St. George Temple. Veteran of the US Navy during World War II.John grew up in Southern Utah. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Full-time Missionary, Bishop, High Councilman, and Scout Leader. Recipient of Scoutings Silver Beaver Award. He loved the out of doors, dutch oven cooking, and homemade ice cream. Above all he believed and practiced family first.

Survivors include wife Marjorie of Orderville; children, Muriel and Wolf Menssen, Sandra and Wayne Holman, Susan and Dave Robertson, John Burton and Kathy Crofts, Forrest and Shirley Crofts, and Miriam and Stephen Force; brothers and sisters, Lola Burrows, Alfred Crofts, Leo Crofts, Leah Esplin, Mary Jane DeMille, and Karma Criddle; 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded by brothers and sisters Ellen Crofts, Arlos Crofts, Si Crofts, and Eva DeMille.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 6, 1998 in the Orderville Chapel at 11 a.m. Viewings are 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, and 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial in the Orderville Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
