Sherri Ann Holyoak, 45, passed away due to complications of cancer at her home in Salt Lake City on July 4, 1998.
Sherri was born June 23, 1953, in Salt Lake City to Lane and Marian Foote. She married Craig Holyoak in the Oakland LDS Temple on November 18, 1972. They are the parents of five children.Sherri is survived by her parents of St. George; her husband; their children, Camaree (Damell) Cockle, Cortney (John) Sherwin, Ryan Holyoak, Aubrey Holyoak, and Tyler Holyoak; her grandson Jordan Cockle. She is also survived by seven brothers and sisters: Alan (Anneta) Foote, Orem; Danny (Joan) Foote, Springville; Jerry (Patty) Foote, St. George; Shelly (Mike) Duggar, North Salt Lake; Nancy Cowley, Tammy (Randy) Cox and Tom (Nicole) Foote, all of St. George. She also leaves 44 nieces and nephews.
Sherri graduated from Newark High School in Newark, California, in 1971; she also attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. Sherri was employed by Dr. Kenneth Thorrell as a Dental Assistant. Her family and friends will remember her playfulness, wit, honesty, and determination to succeed. She was also a great athlete and a fierce competitor who loved to play and win at almost any game. More than anything else, Sherri loved her children. She nurtured and cared for her family with all of her energy. They spent countless hours together in learning and in play. Sherri also served faithfully in the LDS Church, working for many years in the Young Women's program and in the Relief Society. She was a talented teacher and enjoyed sharing this gift and her testimony with everyone around her.
Through her more than five years of prolonged illness, Sherri's faith and spirituality blossomed. She saw clearly the purpose of life and the value of every moment.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 1998 at 12 noon at the Dover Hill LDS Chapel, 3625 East Dover Hill Drive (7650 South). Friends may call Tuesday evening, 6-8 p.m. at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 East Bengal Blvd. (7600 South) and at the Dover Hill Chapel, Wednesday, one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memorial Estates.
