Our beloved wife and mother, Joan Lorraine O'Brien Byrne died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 7, 1998 after a courageous battle with a long illness.
She was born July 28, 1930 in Fort Ann, New York to Edward and Violet Daly O'Brien. Married Joseph Gerald Byrne on May 25, 1957 in Bedford Hills, New York. Joan was a gentle and spiritual woman, whose generous heart poured out boundless love. Her great compassion led many people to adopt her as a second mother. She was full of joy, cared deeply about life, and will be missed. She made her life profession to the Dominican Laity on July 4, 1998. She received her R.N. in 1950 from The Metropolitan School of Nursing in New City, her BS and MS in Nutrition in 1981 and 1983 respectively from the University of Utah. She was a Registered Dietician in the State of Utah.Survived by her husband; children, Beth Kucharski (Joe), Maura Hashiguchi (Mark), Dan Byrne, Noreen Parry (Doug); sister, Ann Beigler; seven grandchildren; two nieces; dog and companion, Delbert.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena/Newman Center, 170 So. University. Private committal, Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
