Jay is home at last with his parents and family after a long struggle with Alzhiemers.

He passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 1998 in Salt Lake City.He was born June 16, 1924 in London, Utah to Lester G. and Margaret Walker West. He married Odetta Gardner on August 27, 1947. They had a special love that they shared with five children, who had no one else.

He is survived by his wife; brother, Farrell (Nelda), St. George; sisters, Belva, Lehi; Delores (Maurice), Anchorage, AK; children, Ron, Carl, Jodene, Julene, Elaine; and 15 wonderful grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Ray, Burnell, Rulon, Shelby, and sister Phyllis.

He was a kind and giving man who took care of everyone and didn't ask for anything in return. He loved to play basketball, softball, horseshoes, and pool and was a whiz at them all. He is loved and missed by many.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 10, 1998, at 11 a.m. in the LDS Church building at 1495 W. Tamarack Rd. (4640 So.)
