A burglar broke into a McDonald's fast food restaurant over the weekend and when the safe couldn't be cracked, took off with the donations collected for the Ronald McDonald House.

The manager at the store at 1655 S. Redwood Road discovered the glass broken on the front door at 6 a.m. Saturday. Once inside, the culprit unsuccessfully attempted to open the safe with a gas torch.Salt Lake police said the thief then took the contents of the charity box and the surveillance video before fleeing. Authorities are unsure of how much money was in the box.
