Jim Druckenmiller is getting playing time and making mistakes. Mistakes the San Francisco 49ers can live with - for now.

A second-year pro and the backup to Steve Young, Druckenmiller played extensively in the 49ers' 14-13 exhibition victory over New England on Sunday, but had little in the way of production to show for it."It was a long day, but it felt really good to be out there," said Druckenmiller, who started one game in place of an injured Young last season.

"I'm pretty happy with my performance overall, although I'm not pleased about the two interceptions. But I definitely made pro-gress."

Druckenmiller, who threw for 100 yards while completing 10 of 14 passes, was able to move the team, but his two most promising drives ended in interceptions.

Ty Detmer went 4-for-7 for 44 yards in his Niner debut.
