Leona Noble, 85, of Orem, Utah, peacefully departed this life while visiting her son, Jay Noble, in Kuna, Idaho, on Friday July 31, 1998.

Leona lived a life of loving service to her family and everyone she knew. She had no guile in her person. She loved without conditions. She showed compassion where others may shrink or shy away.Leona was born in Milo, Idaho, on August 3, 1912. She was the second of eight children born to Joseph and Leah Petersen. She loved her childhood and told many of her experiences of growing up in times which would be considered rough compared to our day.

While in high school, her family moved to Burley, Idaho, where she graduated in 1930. Later she met Francis N. Noble of Rupert, Idaho, and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on January 3, 1934. Leona and Francis had many trials but managed to provide a life for themselves and eight children: four sons and four daughters. They moved many times, oftimes in meager conditions, but Leona always managed to make a home for her family. Leona loved her family and was never happier than when seeing or hearing of the success or achievements of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren.

Leona was active in the LDS Church all her life. She served a stake mission in the Sharon Stake in Orem. She worked in every auxiliary in many capacities. Her true joy in later years came from service in the temples.

Leona is survived by four daughters, Jeanne Richardson of Dallas, TX; Carol (Douglas F. Tobler, currently presiding over the Poland Warsaw Mission) of Lindon, UT; Darla (Darrell) Bushman of Midland, TX; Judy (Sam) Bateman of Plantation, Fl; two sons, Jay (Nancy) Noble of Kuna, ID; and Randy (Cinzia) Noble of Orem, UT; also 29 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Glen Petersen of Northridge, CA.
