Linda Smith, founder of the Utah chapter of Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorders (CHADD), has been appointed secretary of the national nonprofit organization.

The Bountiful resident established CHADD at Woods Cross High in the early '90s and has served on the Utah PTA as an attention-disorders specialist. She earned the Outstanding Achievement for Family in Education award in 1995 from the Utah Center for Families in Education, Utah State University and the State Office of Education.CHADD, founded in 1987, has 32,000 members and 500 local chapters.
