Eighty years old and still swinging, mambo king Israel "Cachao" Lopez now has a place in the Latin Jazz Hall of Fame.

He was inducted Saturday night during the second annual Los Angeles Latin Jazz Festival, hosted by actor Andy Garcia. During the five-hour event, Cachao got on stage and performed five or six Latin dance numbers.Born in Havana, Lopez began his career at age 12, when he played bass in Cuba's symphony orchestra. He and is brother are credited with creating the mambo in 1939.
