Clarence Davis Evans, 84, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away January 10, 1999 to rejoin his eternal companion, Marjorie. Born April 17, 1914 in Salt Lake City, Utah the oldest son of Oscar Buchanan and Ivy Erma Davis Evans. Attended West High School and played baseball for several teams in the Salt Lake area. Married Marjorie Edith Langton in the Salt Lake Temple June 8, 1937. Worked for D&RG Railroad and the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office. Graduated from FBI Academy in Virginia and was a professional in fingerprinting. He was over both the Patrol and Civil Divisions. Retired after 32 years service as captain. Active member of the LDS Church having served as a bishop, also a mission, with his wife, to Pima Indians in Arizona, and as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Clare was an outgoing, happy person. He enjoyed his family and was always willing to help others. A special thanks to the staff of Rocky Mountain Care Center, West Valley for their professional, loving and kind care. Thanks to Dr. James Meadows for his caring help. Survived by his only child, a daughter, Sheryl and her husband Lawrence (Larry) Burton, West Valley City; two grandchildren who he loved dearly, Suzanne (Kimball) Ohsiek, Boise, Idaho and Kenton (Ann) Burton, Magna; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Benjamin and Megan Ohsiek, Boise; Ryan and Scott Burton, Magna; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Preston D. (Fay) Evans, George D. (Lorraine), both of Salt Lake City; Thayer (Turk) D. (Bernice) Evans, Bountiful; Lorna (Phil) Simister, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; brother, Jonathan; and parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, 12 noon at the Jordan North 5th Ward, 3836 W. 4100 South. Friends may call Wednesday, January 13, 1999, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services.
