One of Utah County's newest towns is included in the list of where Envision Utah is holding one of its town meetings. The meeting is set for 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Eagle Mountain Fire Station, 1680 E. Heritage Dr.

HIGHLAND
Utah County wants to transfer the responsibility of widening 4800 South from Alpine to Cedar Hills Drive to the city. But Highland officials say they cannot do it all on their own and will only agree to pay for part of it with help from the county.
City administrator Barry Edwards recommended that the council accept sponsorship for the project, which has been on the long-range planning for several years, only if the county will provide some of the matching funds. He also recommended they ask Cedar Hills since the widening would benefit them, too.

PROVO
A transportation master plan steering committee is expected to make recommendations soon on acceptable traffic flows. City planners will use the suggestions to reduce congestion on Provo's streets.
Mayor Lewis Billings said plans might include changing modes of transportation and how some land will be used. Provo also intends to install a sophisticated citywide traffic signalization system in the future. Traffic managers would use video cameras to monitor and adjust street lights from a central control room.
SPANISH FORK
A call to repeal the city's winter parking ordinance doesn't appear like it will go anywhere. Every winter the ordinance goes into effect, which bans parking on the street between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. so snowplows can work unhindered.
Chester Milburn told the City Council recently that the city violated its own rules when it parked a radar trailer overnight on the street. He said the ordinance is a hardship and asked that it be repealed. Some people don't have room to park their vehicles on their property overnight, he complained. The council took no immediate action. "We can't turn public safety off," Mayor Dale Barney said.
