Sam, formerly of Salt Lake City, passed away on January 13, 1999, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Boise, Idaho, July 5, 1940 to Neal R. Olson and Lorna Ward Olson. He lived in Salt Lake City for several years while growing up. He graduated from South High School, and attended the University of Utah. He married Carolee Carmen. Later divorced. Married Sue Hannaford. Recently divorced. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions.

Sam had lived in Hawaii for the past several years, serving as the Senior Vice President over Fuel Operations for ALOHA Petroleum, Ltd. He had many friends who knew and loved him. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and will be missed by his family and friends who have great memories of playing Pinochle with him. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Survived by his mother of Salt Lake City; children, Kellie (Tracy) Hubler, Gore, OK; Lisa (Chuck) Thomas, Independence, MO; Mike (Ann) Olson, Salt Lake City, UT; Marlin Olson, Kansas City, MO; Bryan (Wendy) Olson, Matthew Olson, Independence, MO; Jennifer Olson, Kansas City, MO; sisters, Karen (Blaine) Cravens, Sandy, UT; Sue Ann (Tom) McFarland, Boise, ID; brother, Jon Scott Olson, Salt Lake City, UT: 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Jordan Olson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 1999 at the Sandy Central Stake Center, 1050 East Galena (9820 South), at 12 noon. There will be a viewing for friends and family from 6-8 p.m. Friday night at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1700 East 10600 South, and one hour prior before services on Saturday.
