HONOLULU, Hawaii -- The University of Utah basketball team is making its second trip to Hawaii this season, perhaps the only team in the country to get such a privilege. Although this one won't be as much fun as the previous one, the Utes hope it will be as successful.
When the Utes played in the Maui Invitational in late November, they spent nine days in Hawaii, having a little fun in the sun besides playing three games (and winning two). This time the trip is all business as they play Hawaii tonight at 10 p.m. MST (ESPN-TV) against the 3-12 Rainbows, who are coming off a heartbreaking 60-59 loss to BYU.
The Utes flew into Honolulu late Sunday afternoon and will head home shortly after tonight's game. So they won't exactly enjoy a bunch of beach time on this trip.
What they will be trying to do is win their eighth straight game and third Western Athletic Conference game without a loss.
Saturday night in San Diego, the Utes jumped out to an 8-0 lead en route to an easy 79-53 victory. San Diego native Jeremy Killion scored a career-high 23 points, while Andre Miller just missed a triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.
