ZURICH, Switzerland -- A boy who spent seven weeks in a Colorado jail on incest charges said in his first interview since leaving for Switzerland that he never wants to see Denver again.
Raoul Wuthrich flew from Colorado to Zurich on Friday for an emotional reunion with his parents and sisters, whom he had not seen since Aug. 30, when he was arrested for allegedly molesting his 5-year-old half-sister."Bye, bye, Denver," the mass circulation daily Blick quoted the 11-year-old boy as saying in its Saturday edition. "I never want to see you again."
A judge dismissed the case on Wednesday on the grounds that the boy's right to a speedy trial had been violated. Raoul had been charged with aggravated incest and sexual assault on a child and could have faced up to two years in juvenile detention if convicted.
The case caused uproar in Switzerland, where children of Raoul's age are almost never imprisoned and some critics doubted whether Raoul could have knowingly abused the girl or whether it was in play.
According to Blick, Raoul said he had missed his family very much and didn't want to go back to court where there were "lots of evil people."
Raoul did not talk about the charges against him.
