Charles Franklin Porter, age 81, died November 12, 1999 at his home in Kearns.
Born November 28, 1917 in Lynxville, Wisconsin, a son of Harry Thomas and Esther Marie Dolan Porter. Married March 9, 1943 to Phyllis (Pat) Watkins in Elko, Nevada. Charles served in World War II Pacific 1942-45. He was a former Post Commander and life member of Post 9322 Veterans of Foreign Wars, later transferring to Post 7442, West Valley City. Charles was also a long-time member of American Legion Post 132 in Kearns. He retired from Tooele Army Depot Security Force where he was a Lieutenant.Survived by his children: Thomas David (Linda) Porter, Bandera, TX; Craig Charles (Bonnie) Porter, Lyman, WY; Donald Porter, Kearns; Beverly (Robert) Mitchell, Cedar City; Bette Porter, Kearns; Cheri L. (Dan) Jones, Magna; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Vivian (Richard) Pearson, Taylorsville; Constance (Jim) Janisch, Salt Lake City; Bette Hayner (Harold) Petosky, Michigan; Shirley (Herman) Soravia, Beloit, WI; Dale M. (Betty) Porter, Apache Junction, AR; Bob Porter, Wilcox, AR. Preceded in death by wife, parents, sisters: Margaret, Leona, Patsy; brothers: Jackie and Lawrence.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330
South Redwood Road, where friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday, one hour prior to services. Interment: Midway Cemetery, 2 p.m.
