Doris L. (Headlund) Richardson, 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, died Thursday, November 12, 1999 at Palm Harbor, Florida, succumbing to Alzheimer's Disease.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Bremerton, Washington on December 18, 1918 and shortly after moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where she was raised. She attended East High School and graduated in 1936 from West High School. She worked as switchboard operator at the Salt Lake City Telephone Company and later at KDYL-TV. She attended American River College, Sacramento, California studying interior design. She volunteered as a high school nurse assistant. Her hobbies were oil painting, drawing, and interior decorating, and she had been active in bowling, USAF Officer's Wives Club activities, bridge, physical fitness classes, and enjoyed dancing and walking. She was a member of the Assemblies of God Church and an active supporter of many philanthropic causes.Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband of 48 years, Max L. Richardson, retired U.S. Air Force officer and Japan Air Lines captain. They lived and traveled throughout the United States and abroad, including four years in Hawaii, six years in Japan, five years in Alaska, and one and one-half years in French Morocco. She is also survived by seven sons and daughters: John C. Swonson, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; Barbara J. (Swonson) Raymond of Nine Mile Falls, WA; Christy K. (Swonson) Sisson of Urbana, IL; Mark L. Richardson of Vacaville, CA; J. Scott Richardson of Palmer, AK; Holly M. Richardson of Sonoma, CA; and Brett C. Richardson of Citrus Heights, CA. She is survived by 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Colin Frasier Headlund and Julia Ann Conlon Headlund; sisters, Marjorie (Headlund) Larsen and Betty Headlund; and granddaughter, Julie Raymond Hackett.
Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive where friends may call from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment following at Murray City Cemetery.
