I did not get any information about whether Salt Lake City is the only city its size that does not have a rail link to its airport.

I have learned that one city opening its light rail recently cashed in on having more than twice the expected riders. If that happens in Salt Lake City, it would be a strong vote for an east-west line. Readers: Please ride to cast your vote.To gain support for the university-airport connection, a full subway connection could travel at such a high speed that only a single track set and single train would be required. The straight line distance would not require property acquisition along the track length and use only about 40 percent of the amount of steel rail. End-to-end travel time would be about 16 percent of the surface rail to attract a much higher percentage of travelers to use it.

Success of this route will eventually justify an extension from the U. toward the south along the east bench . An eventual extension from the west end would be southward along the west bench.
