I want to commend the great young women who play on and coach the Timpanogos volleyball team, this year's 5A division state champions. These young women are gifted athletes and played incredibly well all season. Their athletic talents can't be disputed.

But even more impressive to me as a parent is what outstanding young women they are off the volleyball court. This is a team of girls who respect their coaches and teammates and treat each other with dignity. There is a sisterhood and friendship among every player and coach on the team. Having had them in my home, I have seen their respect, love and gratitude for each other. All the girls on the team have also achieved a 3.5 GPA or above, no small feat considering the time and effort required for such a team sport. The head coach, Angie Roberts, expected a great deal from these young ladies on and off the court and showed them a love and dignity deserving of praise. No greater honor can be given a high school team than to win a state championship. No greater honor can be given a parent than to see a child succeed emotionally, socially and spiritually. Thank you, Timpanogos Timberwolves, for your excellence on the court as well as off the court.
