I applaud Karl Malone's recent defense of our Second Amendment rights. That simple act took much courage, and it's already cost Karl plenty if he values the allegiance of Messrs. Gunn, Hatch, Leavitt and others who put political correctness above all else.
The Constitution of the United States exists today because people like Karl Malone step forward on occasion to defend it and preserve it, often with their own arms and nearly always at their own personal expense. These defenders are invariably characterized by courage, intelligence and honesty -- traits that are almost totally absent in the White House, the governor's mansion and other high places where they are sorely needed.Anybody who has seen Karl Malone play basketball knows he's courageous and intelligent. No rational person would think otherwise. But it's also a wonderful thing to see he's an honest man who is willing to stand up for what's right. As long as people like Karl step forward on a regular basis, our constitutional form of government will survive another season.
