Auditions for Hale Centre Theatre's production of Frank Loesser's classic Broadway musical, "The Most Happy Fella," will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon. All auditioners must call the theater at 984-9000 to schedule a specific audition time.
The 1956 musical, set in Napa Valley in 1927, is being directed by Jayne Luke, with musical direction by Mearle Marsh and choreography by Marilyn Montgomery.There are 10 major roles, including Tony, a baritone, an older, insecure grape farmer; Rosabella, soprano, a young San Francisco waitress; Joe, baritone, masculine and handsome; Cleo, a brassy waitress; Herman, tenor, happy-go-lucky ranch hand, and Marie, mezzo-soprano, Tony's possessive, spinster sister.
Others are Giuseppe, tenor; Pasquale, baritone-tenor, and Ciccio, baritone, all exuberant Italian chefs; Doc, a neighboring doctor; and a postman. There is also a large chorus of men and women.
Come prepared with a Broadway show tune. An accompanist will be provided. Play dates are Feb. 12-March 25.
