BOUNTIFUL--Helen Brough Haacke, 94, was released from these earthly bounds into the arms of her Heavenly Father, her eternal companion, her son and other family members who had gone on before. She passed through the veil on Sunday, November 14, 1999, in Bountiful, Utah.

She was born August 21, 1905, in Elwood, East Tremonton, Utah, a daughter of George Albert and Edith Adeline Anderson Brough. Educated in schools in Tremonton and Bear River. After graduation from Granite High School in Salt Lake she worked as a telephone operator.She married her eternal sweetheart, Leslie Carl Haacke, on March 16, 1927, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband in May of 1989, and a son, Dale, in February 1996.

She was a member of the Bountiful First Ward for 61 years where she served as a teacher in the Sunday School, Primary, Mutual, and as a Visiting Teacher. She held positions in the Relief Society and the Ann Roberts Dustin DUP Camp. She served many years on welfare committees and giving charity to others. She lived the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a great example to her family and friends. Her lifetime consisted of writing histories of her grandchildren, the Bountiful First Ward Relief Society, and rebuilding the ward chapel, gardening, crocheting, quilting, genealogical work, baking, and keeping a daily journal.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law: Shirley Holbrook Haacke, a son: Cornell (Joyce Nelson) Haacke; two daughters: Colleen (Cal) Christensen, and Helen (Howard) Vanfleet. She was blessed with 27 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one stepsister, Donna (Lee) Huntsman.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful First Ward Chapel, 51 South Main. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and again Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church.
