Traveling over the river and through the woods will cost Utah drivers a little less this Thanksgiving, as the state's average gasoline price has fallen for the second month in a row.
AAA Utah said Tuesday that the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded dropped 4 cents from October's levels to hit $1.35."The drop in gas prices is good for consumers, as Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally the busiest travel holiday of the year," said AAA Utah spokeswoman Rolayne Fairclough. "But consumers may not be thankful with pump prices 23 cents higher than this time last year."
November prices also remain well above the sub-$1 levels they hit in January. But they are down from the $1.40 high of September.
Salt Lake City's average price was slightly below the state average and down 6 cents from October, at $1.32 per gallon. Ogden's average fell 4 cents from last month to $1.34 per gallon, and Provo's dropped a penny to $1.38.
Utah's prices remain above the national average, which fell a penny to $1.28 in November. Prices in northern California fell 6 cents last month to $1.43 a gallon.
Crude oil prices rose earlier this year after members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed to cut production.
