Three more gang members have been charged in a Nov. 6 slaying.
Jan Ramos, 17; Juan Carlos Samora, 20; and Mario Cardenas, 27, were all charged Tuesday with criminal homicide for their alleged involvement in the shooting that left dead 16-year-old Wilbur Canales and wounded 18-year-old Alex Suaste Molina. All three are members of a gang that schemed to exact revenge against rivals at a party at the Lexington Park Apartments, 3685 S. 2280 West, court documents state.
Solomon Lee Johnson, 18, who police say was the trigger man in the attack, was charged with capital murder Friday.
If convicted Johnson, could become the youngest person in 40 years to face execution in Utah.
The three gang members charged Tuesday contributed to the slaying in different ways, court documents say. Samora drove the group to the apartment and situated his truck so that the lights illuminated the front door. Ramos was in possession of a handgun during the attack and Cardenas was also present, the charges state.
Each was charged with two first-degree felonies, criminal homicide and aggravated burglary. Both charges carry a sentence of five years to life.
