Congratulations, accolades, everything else that is possible to Mr. Will Thompson of Sandy.

Everybody in the state should have read his letter published on Oct. 27. Everything he wrote is true. Gov. Leavitt, Rep. Dave Jones, UAGV, UEA and the rest of the advocates should take notice of his statements. You cannot legislate safety. No matter how many gun laws you pass, they will not keep people with murder or destruction on their minds from doing what they intend. If someone wants to inflict damage to a person, they will go where they know there will be no opposition: to schools, churches, etc.I have a friend who is a former highway patrolman. If someone in Colorado would have had his know-how or experience, this terrible incident would not have happened. Maybe one or two would have been killed, but not 20.

Wake up, America. Attitudes in our country must change. Training on how important a life is, the seriousness of destroying life or property, and how to use a gun safely should happen in the home.

May I congratulate all concealed weapon permit holders for your protection and care for our communities and America.
