A Thai soldier gives a young East Timorese boy a military haircut in Dili, the capital of East Timor. The Thai army announced several days ago that it would give free haircuts to anyone who came to their compound. An official Indonesian commission investigating rights abuses in East Timor said Thursday it planned to subpoena high-ranking Indonesian army officers for atrocities committed in the territory. The Indonesian military has been widely blamed for supporting pro-Jakarta gangs who went on a murderous rampage after the tiny territory voted in August for independence.
