Several Utahns were honored on National Philanthropy Day Wednesday for their contributions to the community. Award recipients from left are Chea Trujillo, Judge Memorial High School, Service Organization of the Year; Harris and Amanda Simmons, Keepers of Tradition; Richard Mecham and Steve Lindsley, KSL, Corporation of the Year; David H. Huntsman (standing in for Jon M. and Karen Huntsman) Philanthropists of the Year; Spencer Eccles and daughter Lisa for the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, Foundation of the Year; Howard Landa for Joseph Rosenblatt, Spirit of Philanthropy Award; and Ryan Tripp, Youth Volunteer of the Year. Lila B. Bjorklund, seated, received the Norma Matheson Volunteer of the Year Award. Theme for the celebration was "Giving and Sharing -- A Community Tradition." Sponsored by the Utah Nonprofits Association and the Utah Society of Fundraisers, the event honored Utahns who have given their time and talents to the community. The founder of National Philanthropy Day, Doug Freeman, gave the keynote address.
