ST. GEORGE, Utah-Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather ("Opi") was transferred to another field in the Lord's vineyard on November 15, 1999 where he will continue his efforts to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Eugene was born January 11, 1926 in Bietigheim, Germany. He married Brigitte Koska in 1950 and was sealed to her in 1952 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple after immigrating from Germany. They raised their five children in Salt Lake City, Utah where his beloved daughter Heidi passed away at the age of three. He held a variety of church and community positions, serving the church and country he loves so much. He especially loved teaching his gospel doctrine class because of his great love of the scriptures. He devoted much of his life to searching for his ancestors and performing temple work for them. After his retirement from Utah Power & Light in 1987 he dedicated all of his time to these pursuits. Throughout his life he looked for opportunities to share the gospel he loves so much. Since 1997 he and his wife served as missionaries at the St. George Visitors Center and historical sites. Their heartfelt testimonies touched many lives. In all of his endeavors he labored alongside his wife and loving companion Brigitte. They were truly united in their desire to serve the lord and pass on that desire to their children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife and four children, Ronald and Marian Dautel, Salt Lake City, Utah; Alonzo and Ellen Ashton, Las Vegas, Nevada; Raymond and Beate Dautel, Nuremburg, Germany; Rudy and Jeanie Dautel, Houston, Texas. He is loved dearly by 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 19, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Memorial Estates Mortuary Chapel, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, Utah. A Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Mortuary.
