Cast of thousands

So here it is, Utah-BYU with a title on the line. Good for them.I have only one question: Is there anyone NOT still playing for a share of the championship?

Mac under attack

I figure the Ute administration ought to cut Coach Mac at least a little slack.

Sure, he lost to Boise State, two years running.

But before he came, when did you last hear BYU players calling Utah the biggest game on their schedule?

Career ladder

If the Utes do decide to fire Coach Mac, he can always find work.

The man's a heck of a band conductor.

Sounds of silence

At Tuesday's Big 5 football luncheon, LaVell Edwards was asked only one question during the interview period -- and that was from KSL-radio's Paul James. McBride was asked no questions.

What are we to read from that?

The teams must not be that good.

Or the food must have been great.

Return to orbit

I hate to rain on the celebration here, but all that feel-good, rally-'round-the-coach talk after the Utes' win over New Mexico last week?

Guys, GUYS!

It was only New Mexico.

Different strokes

The all-time record in the BYU-Utah games depends on your source.

The Ute football media guide says Utah has a 47-29-4 lead, while the BYU guide has it 44-26-4 for the Utes.

Utah's guide says the first-ever game between the schools was in 1896. The BYU guide says the first game wasn't until 1922.

And you thought they could agree on something.

X marks the spots

In the case of the People vs. Ron McBride, Your Honor, I move that the loss to Wyoming not be admitted as evidence; after all, the Cowboys beat BYU, too. Same for the loss to Colorado State, which beat Wyoming.

The loss to Boise State?

My client wishes to invoke the Fifth Amendment.

Win some, lose some

The real reward for the rivalry game should be that the winner gets to skip the Liberty Bowl.

Burden of proof

So should this one game determine Coach Mac's future?

Only if it decides LaVell's.
