BOUNTIFUL--Marietta Olson Black, age 84, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 1999 after a long and productive life.
She was born on January 26, 1915 in Salt Lake City to Jacob Olson and Francis Abigail Williams. She attended St. Mary's of the Wasatch. Marietta married Charles Francis Black on April 2, 1937. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1995.After residing a short time in California, they returned to Bountiful to raise their family. Marietta raised three sons; Charles Francis, Jr. (Marta), Gary Robert (Karen), and Bruce Lee. She has seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She co-founded with her husband Wild Horse Charlie's Cafe in Bountiful. in 1938, they founded Mrs. Condies Salad Co. Marietta prepared in her kitchen the first salads and sold them in the Liberty Park grocery store. This was the beginning of what would become Condies Foods. She was active in the SLC Garden Club and enjoyed gardening. Marietta had faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which brought her great strength and comfort. She was active in the Bountiful Community Church for many years and recently the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Fruit Heights. Marietta helped many charities and always gave generously to those in needs. She will be missed by everyone she served.
Services will be held on Monday, November 22, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Chapel, 727 N. 400 E., Bountiful. Friends may call Monday one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Primary Children's Hospital. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
