ST. GEORGE, UT--Jessie Scott Redmond, 87, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 in Las Vegas.

She was born March 21, 1912 in Modena, UT to Wilon Lenoir and Sarah Elinor Stirling Scott. She lived in Leeds, UT and moved to Cedar City, UT where she completed her secondary education. She married Paul Daniel Redmond October 25, 1939 in Farmington, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Paul preceded her in death December 21, 1977.Jessie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been a Primary Teacher, counselor in the Relief Society and MIA. She very much enjoyed working on her genealogy. She had worked in the Church Extraction Program, and the St. George LDS Temple. Jessie attended Branch Agricultural College. During the Depression, she was fortunate to obtain employment in Salt Lake City as a cook for the Johnson family. While in Salt Lake she met and married Paul, a sergeant in the Army. His professional career took them to Japan, where they lived for a year and a half, and to several cities in the western United States. In 1973 she and Paul moved to St. George. Jessie was a lady who kept her personal appearance and home immaculate. She especially loved beautiful new cars. She enjoyed crocheting and was an excellent cook who was famous for her "Scott Shortbread". She was a beautiful, positive woman with a lot of spunk, a good neighbor and an example of Gospel principles. Because of failing health, Jessie lived with her daughter in Las Vegas for the past two years.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. John Robert (Barbara) Horn of Las Vegas; two grandchildren: Mrs. Ken (Tracie) Josephson; and Trenton Dale (Jan) Horn and six great-grandchildren; a sister: Dixie Harris of Beaver, UT; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and a brother: Wilbur Wilson Scott.

Funeral services will be Mon., November 22, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the St. George LDS 26th Ward Chapel, 100 So. 400 East, St. George. Friends may call Sun. from 7-8 p.m. at the Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 110 So. Bluff Street in St. George, and Mon. from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, St. George, (435) 673-2454.
