LEHI--Calvin Helge Swenson, age 82 of Lehi, Utah, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Nov. 18, 1999, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
Calvin was born Dec. 3, 1916, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Helge Vincent Swenson and Adena Warnick Swenson. He married Ila Schow in the Salt Lake Temple on August 18, 1939. They recently cele-brated their 60th wedding anniversary.He was a devoted member of the LDS Church. He served missions to Norway and with his sweetheart, to Atlanta, Georgia. He served as a counselor in the Provo Temple Presidency. He was a bishop, stake mission president, High Councilor, temple sealer, and he held numerous other callings.
He graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and Brigham Young University. Calvin was President, CEO, and Director of the State Bank of Lehi. He was Executive Vice President and Director of Deseret Bank.
He was a past President of the Utah Bankers Association and served on the Executive Counsel of the American Bankers Association and the Western Independent Bankers Association. He served a term as Mayor of Lehi City. He was President of the Lions Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce, and he was Chairman of the Lehi Hospital Board.
Calvin's loves included flower and vegetable gardening, furniture making, and rug weaving. The most important things in his life were his family, church, and friends. His kind and gentle manner and keen sense of humor will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Karl Warnick Swenson; and a granddaughter, Melissa Sue Peterson. He is survived by his loving devoted wife, Ila; and six children, Stephen (Ann) Swenson, Lehi; Judith (Stephen) Burningham, Orem; Launa (John) Reese, Highland; Connie (Hal) Allen, Orem; Lane (Janet) Swenson, Pleasant Grove; and Shauna (Blake) Peterson, Coalville; 35 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. He is survived by a brother, Richard Swenson; two sisters, Adena Nell (George) Gourley and Leah Jeanne (Paul) Christofferson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Lehi 5th/9th Ward Chapel, 463 E. 300 N., Lehi, Utah. Friends may call Sunday, November 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Monday from 9-10:30 a.m. also at the mortuary. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
