Weber StateTENNIS: Briana Beauchene has signed a letter of intent to play tennis at Weber State next year.
Beauchene, out of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., is currently ranked 10th in singles in the USTA Southwest Section and recently defeated the 6th ranked player. She is also ranked 3rd in doubles with twin sister Jessica.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: After two exhibition wins, BYU will tip off its 1999-2000 regular season tonight when it hosts the UC Riverside Highlanders at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center. The Cougars are coming off a 12-16 season in coach Steve Cleveland's second season, while the Highlanders finished last year 14-13.
MEN'S SWIMMING: With the early signing period now complete, the BYU men's swim team has landed one of its most successful recruiting classes in recent memory for the 2000-2001 season.
At the top of the list is breaststroker Nick Tobler, considered by many to be one of the top five recruits in America.
WOMEN'S SWIMMING: Looking to build on past successes, the BYU women's swim team is well on its way, having received six letters of intent from talented swimmers for the 2000-2001 season.
At the forefront of the recruiting class is California All-American Tamber Covington.
FOOTBALL: BYU's Kevin Feterik is one of 10 finalists for the 1999 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
The O'Brien Advisory Committee, composed of national sportswriters and commentators, narrowed the field of candidates from 25 and will vote again later this month to select a winner.
The other finalists are: Major Applewhite (Texas), Drew Brees (Purdue), Joe Hamilton (Georgia Tech), Tee Martin (Tennessee), Chad Pennington (Marshall), Tim Rattay (Louisiana Tech), Chris Redman (Louisville), Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) and Chris Weinke (Florida State).
The winner will be announced Dec. 9.
TENNIS: Freshman Carlos Lozano, sophomore Gert Vilms and senior Damien Ward advanced to the Round of 16 in singles play Thursday at the Southern California Intercollegiate Tournament in Los Angeles.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Carmie Olowoyo scored 24 points and Travis Spivey added 21 and a game-high 12 rebounds as the Bruins defeated Miles City Community College 96-76 Friday in a round-robin tournament at Ricks College.

FOOTBALL: Six Badgers have been named first-team All-Conference by the Western States Football League. Quarterback Olin Hannum, the former Deseret News high school MVP out of Fremont, headlined the cast. He led the nation in passing -- completing 64 percent of his passes for 3,378 yards and 25 touchdowns.
Snow's other All-WSFL honorees are WR Brian Romney (Pleasant Grove), OL Matt Nighswonger (East), former BYU defensive lineman Brett Keisel, DB Jared Harwood (American Fork) and P Alan Cox (Manti). LB Brett Erickson (Northridge) earned second-team recognition.
The Badgers (7-3) finished the season ranked 15th in the nation.
