Axel Henry Nielsen, 89, a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, returned home to his Father in Heaven, Nov. 17, 1999.

Born Jan 30, 1910, in Copenhagen, Denmark to Niels and Anna Maria Christiansen Nielsen. Married Fern May Wilson, July 12, 1934. Marriagelater solemnized in the LDS Temple.

He was a furniture upholsterer and was in great demand, even after his retirement. He loved to bowl with his buddies, but fishing was his favorite pastime. He was first counselor in the 22nd Ward Sunday School, and secretary of the Seventies Quorum in the 16th Ward, Monument Park Stake, and served a two year mission in the Monument Park Stake.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife of 65 years, Fern; and all of his brothers, Karl E., Paul M., Louis and Victor. He is survived by his only sister, Ula Cobb, Brigham City; nephews and nieces, Delwin Cobb, Richard (LaRee) Cobb, C. Lin Mjastvedt, Joan (Ellis) Christensen, Keith (Faye) McLaren, Don (Pat) McLaren, Flora (Wesley) May, Joyce (Melvin) Evans, Jim (Brenda) Nielsen, Vickie (Larry) Conoso, and many great-nephews and nieces. He was a very choice person.

Viewing at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 So., from 6 to 8 p.m., on Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday, November 22, at 11 a.m., at the mortuary. Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
