Renate Ann Black Gilmore, beloved wife, mother, sister, and daughter, passed away on the evening of November 18, 1999 at her home after a valiant struggle with Cancer.
She was born August 28, 1955 in Columbia, South Carolina to Marion B. and Ursula E. Augat Black. Renate was raised in Salt Lake City and attended Highland High School, graduating in 1973. She attended the University of Utah and worked for Mountain Fuel as an executive secretary. She married Michael J. Gilmore in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in July 1977. She is the PROUD mother of six wonderful children, one of whom is presently serving a mission in Russia.Renate loved playing the piano and organ and served in practically every music position in her ward. She also served in Young Women's organization in several positions and as numerous positions in the Relief Society, from teacher to counselor to president. She loved working in all types of arts and crafts and toll painting.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her six children, Rebecca Ann, Alexander, Michelle, Cynthia, Gregory, and Jennifer; her parents, Marion and Ursula Black; two married sisters, Carmen Snow of Sandy
and Diane Jackson of Murray; one married brother, Ronald Black of Centerville and 35 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Sandy Granite 2nd Ward, 9245 South Quail Run Drive (2300 East). A viewing will be held Sunday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East and Monday at the Ward 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
