How do you accommodate a society to the requirements of the ruling class (the people in power)?
To paraphrase an old Russian saying, "You eliminate the middle class by grinding them between the mill stones of increasing taxes and inflation."It worked for the Greeks and the Communists, and it is working for the capitalists!
Why has Congress sent our industry to other countries? In some cases the move was even paid for with our taxes. Why is Congress spending so much on corporate welfare? Small business is being taxed and regulated into bankruptcy.
Why is Congress funding public transportation? We voted against light rail. (What side of the tracks do you live on?) Federal money is being used for transportation-based housing (Envision Utah), which, in other cities nationwide, has resulted in tenement districts and slums.
The trend is bigger government, more public spending, more costly and bigger public education, buildings, etc. We're fed the lines "we're doing it for you, man," and "it's for the children!" and getting perpetually increasing taxes.
Why is Congress routinely raising the minimum wage? ("You can't pay him more than you pay me. I've been here longer/ have more experience/ more education.") Instant inflation!
Is our middle class also an endangered species?
