Prince Charles' game of polo aids charity
Prince Charles played a round of polo for charity, but his presence failed to inspire his losing side.
The heir to the British throne played his favorite sport Friday at the Ghantoot Polo and Racing Club on the outskirts of the Emirates capital, Abu Dhabi, on the third day of his visit there.
The Ghantoot team, led by Sheik Falah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a son of Emirates President Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, beat the Prince of Wales' side 6-5 in the friendly polo game arranged specially for the prince. Prince Charles failed to score in the game.
The match raised $71,200 for charities supported by Prince Charles and for charity work in the Emirates. Several major companies and corporations sponsored the match.
Borgnine honored for U.S. Navy service
Ernest Borgnine will be honored on Pearl Harbor Day for his 10 years in the Navy -- the real Navy.
The actor who played a PT boat skipper on television's "McHale's Navy" served during World War II and will be honored on Dec. 7 as the Veteran Foundation's Veteran of the Year 2000.
"I've done 50 years in show business, over 100 pictures, series, including 'McHale's Navy,' and I've gotten some wonderful honors," Borgnine said Friday in Beverly Hills. "But my 10 years in the Navy still bring me some of my greatest memories."
Tim Allen's wife files for legal separation
Tim Allen's wife has filed for legal separation and wants custody of their 9-year-old daughter.
Laura Deibel cited irreconcilable differences in her petition filed Thursday. The two have been married for 15 years.
"There are just some things in my life that I pray will remain personal," the "Home Improvement" star said in a statement. "This is one of them. I hope our plea for privacy during this very painful moment for my family and me will be respected."
Actor Daniel Baldwin causes 6-car pileup
Daniel Baldwin lost control of his pickup on a slick highway near Blackfoot, Idaho, triggering a six-vehicle pileup.
The 39-year-old actor wasn't hurt. His dog was treated for cracked and bruised ribs. There were no other injuries.
Baldwin was on his way to Canada to do a film.
