SHARE Series, exhibit set in S.L. on ex-Soviet Jews

An exhibit titled "Streaked with Light and Shadow: Portraits of Former Soviet Jews in Utah" will be shown through Dec. 27 in the Atrium Gallery at the Salt Lake Main Library, 209 E. 500 South.

And to further illuminate the history, culture and emigration of Salt Lake's Soviet-Jewish community, a lecture series has been taking place at the library. All lectures begin at 7 p.m. in the third floor lecture hall at the library.The last two lectures in the series are: A panel discussion moderated by Gene D. Fitzgerald, University of Utah professor of languages and literature, Dec. 6; and "Soviet Jewish Artists: Official and Unofficial," Vern G. Swanson, director, Springville Art Museum," Dec. 13.

The exhibit contains documentary photographs by Kent M. Miles and Stacie Ann Smith and oral history interviews with members of Salt Lake's Soviet-Jewish community.
