OREM -- Orson Scott Card -- author, publisher and LDS raconteur -- will be at Utah Valley State College, 800 W. 1200 South, Orem, on Friday to read from his works and deliver an address.

At 11 a.m., Card will be at UVSC's Ragan Theater to discuss "Storytelling and Ethics." At 1 p.m., he'll return to the theater to read from his works.Card is one of the premier science-fiction writers in America today. His latest novel, "Enchantment" -- billed as a "classic fantasy with a modern twist" -- will be out this spring.

As an LDS author, Card has helped shaped the debate about Mormon letters and has contributed several seminal volumes to the LDS culture, including "A Storyteller in Zion," a collection of essays from Bookcraft, and "Saints," a novel of the Mormon trek west.

After his stay in Utah, Card will head to California, where a movie is being made of his award-winning novel, "Ender's Game." His reading and lecture are free and open to the public. Call 222-8280 for details. -- Jerry Johnston
