PLEASANT GROVE -- The mother of a child found unconscious in a bathtub Friday could be charged with felony child abuse.
Lt. Mike Blackhurst said charges are expected against the 37-year-old woman whose 2-year-old daughter was found face down in water at about 10:30 p.m. at 334 N. 1050 East.Other children found the girl, pulled her out of the water and ran to a neighbor's house for help. Police were then called.
Further investigation by medical workers showed the toddler had no water in her lungs. Police believe the child was beaten unconscious with a plastic bat before being placed in the tub.
Blackhurst said this is not the first time police have been called to the home for reported child abuse.
